St. Abbs Harbour Trust

St. Abbs Harbour Trust is a non profit making organisation responsible for maintaining and managing the harbour for the good of the community. The harbour at St. Abbs is the centre of activity in the village, with a large number of local people relying on the harbour for their employment. The harbour is used daily by fishermen, charter boats and pleasure craft.
The maintenance of the harbour and the cost of employing the harbourmaster are covered by mooring and launching dues, which must be paid by every vessel using the harbour and by charging visitors to park.
Recent Improvements
Recent improves undertaken by the trust include the:
- Widening of the slipway to allow the easier launching by visiting boats;
- Maintenance of the outer and middle piers, which had been severely undermining by the sea;
- Installation of electric derricks to assist with the loading and unloading of fishing gear and diver's equipment;
- Replacement of ladders.
It is hoped that further improvement to facilities can be undertaken in the future.
Harbourmaster
The harbour trust employs harbourmaster Leonard Crowe to manage the day to day running of the harbour. If you're visiting St. Abbs Harbour and need any advice, you'll find Leonard friendly and approachable.
